I don't know what happened (jeff calls it a phantom injury) but my foot feels pretty good this morning. Let's see what a day of work shoes feels like.
Evening update: my foot still feels fine. I cannot tell you how weird it was to go from crippled gimp on Monday to "it's alright" on Wednesday. There is no reasonable explanation (except perhaps: old age is setting in).
I haven't run since Sunday. I wonder what running feels like. It's been so long. Maybe tomorrow night I'll go out for those three miles I've been putting off.

Yay! That's a good thing. FWIW my feet are like this all the time. One day they hurt so much I gimp around like an old lady and the next day they are fine.
I swear by Speedo seaweed slides but sadly, Speedo doesn't make them any more. You might be able to find knock-offs somewhere. They massage your feet which makes them feel better so keep using a ball or one of those foot rollers and your massage therapist. And not to worry - even on days when my feet hurt I can still run.
I think these weird injuries creep up right before marathons because you are so hypervigilant about your body and how it feels. Good luck with the last week before the big day!
