Hope I'm not peaking yet

This is getting unreal. After going the 20+ miles Sunday I figured I'd be sore and slow today doing 8x800 repeats. It was 42F and I bundled up in tights, ear wrap and gloves. The wind was there to make it colder.

I started slow and gradually improved my splits. After the first two, they ranged from 3:40.5 to 3:43.8. Consistency is a good thing. I did not imagine I could keep that going throughout at what amounts to the best set of 800s since I started training. The 3:40 was a second best pace at the distance and two others were just off the top 3 list.

And I thought I was slacking today. Boy, am I amazing even myself.

I hope I am not peaking too soon.

That is so cool...and margaritas might still be helping! I ran my fastest 1/2 marathon in Finland at the Ruskamaraton in Levi, Finland in 2:07 after being out drinking Finnish beer until the wee hours. This is why Finnish races don't start until 1 in the afternoon!!

Don't worry. You're peaking just perfect.

I do believe that bodes well for your marathon. Very well!

Are you doing those as Yassos where your run easy for 3:40 in between fast 800s? If so then according to Bart Yasso you are on your way to a sub 4 hour marathon. Add 2 more 800 repeats and you are there.

Great job with the 800's. They are especially tough after a long run. 8x800 is quite the feat, mentally and physically, I'm impressed.

Thanks for stopping by a while back. I've been reading your blog for a long time, but rarely if ever comment.

You're not peaking; you're just stud-ly.

Awesome workout. Peaking is a relative term - sometimes you gotta go with how your body feels on a given day.

I was thinking of Yasso's as well, reading this note. What a solid workout.

I have no idea if you are peaking or not...but keep the momentum and rest days.

Have a great long run this weekend!

NOTICE

I SCREWED UP MY BLOGGER ACCOUNT. I SWITCHED TO BETA AND, BY MY OWN FOOLISHNESS, LOST CONNECTION TO MY POSTING PAGES.

HOPEFULLY THEY WILL HAVE ME CLEARED UP IN A DAY OR THREE.
