It's Official - MCM

Okay loyal readers and lurkers. Tonight I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon in DC on October 29. Son T promises to trick me out in official West Point ARMY tech running gear. Gotta show my own colors, ya know.
So next I need to plug in a training plan. The last one practically killed me (shock) so I'm open to suggestions/links to easy ones (ha; define easy). I would rather run four days a week if I can get away with it (who am I fooling?).
I need to start running one day a week. I have had it with this stupid chest/drip. I will get through it but it sure is taking it's damn time.

When you find that easy 4-day week plan, please share! I'll be right behind you the whole way. In fact, maybe you can carry the RBF flag!! We do have a flag, right?? :)

Congrats on the marathon sign-up.

How about Hal Higdon or Jeff Galloway? I'm probably going to morph those along with one from Runner's World to come up with my own marathon training plan for Chicago.

Hoorah! Glad you could pop in and sign up the first day they opened, David. Now you have a target!

The Army PT gear is really good stuff. I use it all the time. You won't need the long sleeved T shirt in Florida, but the SS shirt will work great. Get two or three. The shorts are very comfortable and there is a pocket on the right leg for a Gu or two.

I'm tentatively targeting MCM for fall 2007...so I'll follow your progress closely this year!

Excellent, David! Looks like there's going to be a strong RBF contingent (sp?) at the MCM.

Yeah, ditto on Higdon's Novice plan. Its got 4 days of running, no speed work. A little crosstraining too.

I'll vote for the Higdon plan too...used the Novice plan for marathon #1 and adopted part of the Intermediate 1 plan for marathon #2 (did the same three weekday miles as the novice plan but did the intermediate long-run miles for the weekend long run. still only ran four days a week, with biking and swimming for cross training.)

Hal Higdon, like everyone says, has great tips and marathon training plans. I've used a 20 week program in "Marathon Training for Mortals" by John Bingham for my first marathon. There's a bunch of plans out there. I hope you find a training plan and schedule that will work for you. :) Happy running!

I swear by the plan that they tout on the Duke City Marathon ( Albequerque ) site, twelve weeks, not easy but...! Good Luck! Run Good!
