Time has come today

Those are lyrics from the one 60s hit I wish had aired on the PBS oldies concert the other night. Okay graybeards: who knows the band's name?

I have been really busy and negligent. School's out but not for me. Big event at the end of the month. Other stuff happening. Some good. Some pretty bad.

Running carries on in its own inimitable way. I run long, then short, then fast, then on hills. Long runs are sometime easy and sometimes damn near impossible. I am covering over 20 miles/week and Chicago training hasn't even really begun.

The summer swelter has kicked in down in Florida. When you open your car door now, standing too close to the opening, you acquire a nice crisp skin treatment from the canned heat. I predict a few hurricanes will visit in the next three months. No earthquakes.

Happy birthday and anniversary to Susie in Virginia.

I immediately had the lyrics and song go through my head when I saw your blog title. Even the "ticking" portion of the song.

But I couldn't come up with the name of the group on my own. I googled it, found the name, and would never have come up with it on my own. So, I won't add it here.

An extra question...in what famous movie was this song featured??

Oh yeah, running...hope your long ones stay easy, despite the heat. I'm griping about the heat here in Indiana but have no comparision with your situation.

Jeanne beat me to it but I'd like to add that it was one of my favorite songs to dance to at dances - back when he had bands and we danced in pairs.

I saw the group, I heard the song, but I had to Google it, too. Even with the renewed interest due to Grey's Anatomy, I still had to look it up!

When will you start your training for Chicago?

I have started...

I was wondering when your training started. I started Monday...

Hope the good stuff keeps coming and the bad goes away.

There will lots of time to run long over the hot, hot summer.

Thanks, Mr. T. We've just returned from Quebec...great place, and I even practiced my French. You are heading to DC soon. I'll email Jeanne.

Rae is so wrong, the group isn't Chicago! And Rich is too funny! He wishes it were the Bee Gees! I saw the Chambers Bros. They came to Staten Island where I grew up and played at a funky old converted movie theatre. Everybody knew they were gonna do Time Has Come Today as the last song--so they went into this long riff with tick tock and cuckoo and all that and just as the foreplay was makin' us all crazy, they switched into Peace Love & Happiness! The concert had another (loud) half hour to go. Of course, then they thanked all the nice folks there on "Long Island" for coming.
